Summer is upon us (by Tye)

With summer approaching, there is a lot going on. We had:

- End of year recorder concert for Kyle. After the memorable concert in which hundreds of 4th graders playing through all the songs they learned on their recorders. They brought them even closer to the audience by surrounding the audience with recorder players. It was coming at us from all sides!! After the concert they lined the halls for individual performances - all that was missing was the hat on the ground to collect money.

- End of year violin concert with Emily. Hawaiian theme. She is the one smiling at the camera.

- A Shakespeare play of 'Mid-Summer Night's Dream' which Emily and her 'Shakespeare Club' from school put on. Emily is the pretty, glowing bride in white with the veil on her her head.

- Went with Kyle and Emily to a school thing, where they got to, among other things, disect a cow's eyeball.

- Kyle's first and final baseball game in the post season tournament - single elimination. Kyle had a great hit and his team did great, but they ended up losing by one run.

- Carter had 'water day' at school in which the whole Kindergarten spent all morning playing in the water. I had "volunteered" to grill the hot dogs (quotes because April helped volunteer me). I guess I thought it was just for Carter's class, but it was for all 6 classes (I did half - 120 dogs). No big deal - my grill just isn't that big. They had a lot of fun. Oh, and to cook them, I put them in the microwave in their juices to get them nice and hot - then finished them off on the grill to give them nice grill marks, but so it didn't take as long.

- Allison is getting ready for her second year of girl's camp and registering for her classes for 8th grade.

- The kids all signed up for different classes and activities for the summer. Carter - swimming, Kyle - some sports class, Emily - a drama class, Allison - an art class.

To the right is a picture of us playing beach ball volleyball in the pool. That's Kyle hitting the ball, Emily next too him and April out in the deep. We put the solar cover on it and it was probably a little too warm at 90+ degrees, but April sure liked it.
