Check off another milestone

As parents we look forward to certain milestones-a baby sleeping throught the night, having all children out of diapers, a daughter who can now babysit. You get the idea. Well Carter hit another milestone this week by learning how to ride his bike-no training wheels! We have been trying for over a year for this moment. I think because Carter is our youngest and last we have let him get away with more then the other kids. All older kids have to grow up because someone else needs the crib or the high chair or is the baby now. Carter had no one pushing him besides mom and dad and with his stubborn nature that never works. After much crying and telling us "no", we decided it was time (besides 5 year olds are too big to ride in the baby seat on the back of mom's bike-it was getting too dangerous.) After only a week he got it down and now loves to take bike rides. We are a biking family and there is no other option everyone needs to ride. Notice how Carter can start the bike and stop the bike all by himself.

If you are wondering about the green thing on the front of Carter's bike, it is a homemade basket for his stuffed animals to ride with him.

Hip Hip Hooray for Carter!!! He's just a little more cautious then the other kids were. He learned early on it hurts to fall down and hit the concrete so why fall down at all? I guess he and Kyle will have to share our boys bike when they visit; no more riding the Princess bike for Carter.
