Here are some toys carter made. He spent a good part of the afternoon making these spaceships. They are made mostly out of paper plate pieces. One was a good spaceship and was being chased and shot at by the bad one. Note the markers taped to the top of the smaller one. Those are not guns - they are there to fix it in case it breaks. I thought that was pretty clever.
He test flew them by dropping them off the landing at the top of the stairs onto the tile below. They didn't exactly fly, but he had a lot of fun with them. He had a bunch of toy animals inside of them. You may say: "Get the boy some real toys", but why do we need to do that if a few paper plates, some tape, staples, and markers keep him happy all afternoon. Hurricane Jimena It is not every year that we get hit by a hurricane. This weekend, we got hit by the remnants of Hurricane Jimena, which, for Arizona, amounted to a bit of rain overnight and into this morning. While the quantity of rain won't impress anyone, it did make things wet and, more importantly - made a lot of puddles. I took the kids out on the bikes this morning after the rain had stopped and we went 'puddle hunting'. We rode our bikes through just about any puddle we could find. Some of them were pretty big and deep. By the time we were done, they were all pretty wet and a little muddy. Despite the mess (or perhaps because of it), we were all having a lot of fun and there was plenty of laughter as they would try to pedal there way through puddles that were deeper than their pedals. Even Carter, who was riding on the back seat of my bike had fun. What they didn't realize until we got into it was how hard it is to pedal through the water and they all got pretty tired and ready to come home before too long.
